3 Ways to Celebrate All Things Oz

Go local this long weekend

This year, Australia Day falls on a Friday and you know what that means… long weekend! And the best way to celebrate is with Aussie summer long weekend staples: refreshing spritzes, crisp Australian wines, beachside dining, sensational seafood, water views and great company.

Lucky for you, all this is possible in one hit at St Siandra at Mosman’s The Spit, overlooking Middle Harbour. To get you started, we’ve rounded up some of the ways to enjoy all things Oz at our restaurant and bar, from delicious dishes bursting with local ingredients to cocktails on the beach.

See you here for some long weekend fun.

#1. Sip cocktails mixed with local spirits

Nothing says Aussie summer quite like a day at the beach. Combine that with spritzes on the sand in the sunshine and you have yourself a winning way to spend Australia Day right there. We up the Oz factor in our cocktails by using some of the best locally-distilled spirits out there, alongside fresh local produce and ingredients. Like Manly Spirits limoncello from the Northern Beaches in our ever-popular Champagne Charlie, mixed with citrus and prosecco. Or Patient Wolf gin from Melbourne in our Firefly, with Clementine Orange Tonic and ginger syrup. Or the Aussie-made Rhubi Mistelle rhubarb liquor mixed with vodka, lemon, egg white and cane syrup to make our Admiral’s Cup. So many options!

#2. Feast on fresh Aussie seafood

With our location on a private beach overlooking one of Sydney’s most pristine stretches of water, it stands to reason that we would celebrate seafood on our menu in a big way. Go full pescatarian with 100% seafood dishes for your dining experience, choosing crowd favourites like our king prawn pasta with locally-caught prawns, locally-made Fabricca spaghetti, garlic and chilli oil, or our *7 spice calamari from Port Lincoln in South Australia served with harissa tartare. Add in our market fish chosen by chef based on what’s freshest at the fish markets, served with capers, tomato and saffron beurre blanc. Or you could live large and opt for our 'Fruits de mer pour deux' seafood platter, with two tiers packed with oysters, mussels, sashimi, king prawns, calamari and rock lobster serving 2-3 people.

#3. Enjoy fish & chips and pastries on the beach

If you like to linger and lounge on your long weekend, you can enjoy your St Siandra experience as takeaway on the sands of our private beach, tucking into one of our beach chairs overlooking the water. Order up our version of fish and chips… combining our moreish prawn cocktail and avocado roll with a serve of chips and aioli. Or go for the Australian brunch staple of avocado on toast with cherry tomatoes and crumbled feta. Other grab-and-go style Aussie takeaway options include banana split waffles with ricotta cream and berry compote; sweetcorn fritter with za’atar salsa verde and labneh, and a selection of baked pastries made in-house and sourced from local Staple Bakery in Seaforth. And of course, takeaway coffee. Kiosk is open Friday and Sunday of the long weekend 7am-2pm. View the menu here.
